Financial Considerations
Prescription and pharmacy providers submit claims to insurance companies
first. Contact the insurance provider for specific coverage information,
including criteria, deductibles and copays.
Pennsylvania Medical Assistance and Health Choices have provisions for
pharmacy benefits. Pharmaceutical companies also may provide assistance
with some prescriptions. Contact us for more
specific information about the pharmaceutical company assistance programs.
Commercial Insurance
May provide coverage. Check with your provider.
Managed Care Organizations
May provide coverage. Managed care insurance companies identify their
“network” health systems; contact their representatives to
discuss how that may impact reimbursement.
U.S. Veteran Benefits
May provide coverage. Check with your U.S. Veteran Benefits' representative.
Medicare
Currently does not provide coverage. Medicare + Choice (Medicare HMOs)
may include some pharmacy benefits. Some all-inclusive programs, such
as the Medicare Hospice Benefit and the Long-term Care Capitated Assistance
Program, or inpatient programs reimbursed by insurance on a per diem,
may have expanded benefits that include prescription coverage. Contact
the facility or contact us with questions
about prescription coverage.
Medical Assistance and Medical Assistance Health Choices
These assistance programs do provide pharmacy benefits. Contact their
representatives to discuss coverage for specific drugs.
