Financial Considerations
Before you choose the option of adult day care, you’ll want to consider the costs of this service. Because adult day care is usually not covered by Medicare or medical assistance programs, you may need to find another way to pay for this expense.

All adult day care facilities in Pennsylvania for the elderly are licensed and inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. Funding from the Pennsylvania Area Agencies on Aging supports most day care programs in the area, although a few private-pay adult day care centers exist.

Long-term Care Insurance
Generally, most long-term care insurance policies have some provisions for adult day care services. If you have long-term care insurance, check your policy or call the insurance company to find out if the care you need is covered.

U.S. Veteran's Benefits
Does not cover adult day care.

Medicare
Medicare does not cover adult day care.

Medical Assistance
Medical Assistance does not cover adult day care.

Your Out-Of-Pocket Costs
Adult day care is primarily covered by private pay. Each center sets its own costs; however Pennsylvania Area Agencies on Aging may provide funds for those eligible to offset fees.
