New Study Offered to Older Adults with Chronic Low Back Pain and Depression

When people are in pain, they often do not feel like themselves and may feel down.
  • Has your back been hurting more days than not, for at least the last 3 months?
  • Do you feel blue or don’t enjoy things as much as you would like?
  • Are you at least 60 years old?

If so, you may be eligible to participate in this research study. Investigators at UPMC are studying new ways to improve care for older adults who suffer from both chronic low back pain and depression.

If you are age 60 or older and have difficulty with both of these conditions, you may qualify for this study. Participants receive an evaluation, study medication, and safe monitoring of their progress at no cost. Some participants may also learn skills to develop and maintain a healthy back.
