Help with Everyday Tasks
Personal attendants offer services to older adults who are unable to perform
tasks associated with daily living. These services, which provide support as
needs change, allow older adults to remain independent and in their own homes.
Personal attendant services are available at any time. The person using the
service maintains the right to choose the level and intensity of assistance
needed. They also maintain the right to recruit, hire, train, supervise, pay and,
if necessary, fire their attendants. Those who need assistance with medically
necessary care (i.e. giving medications, checking blood sugar, giving injections)
should seek
private duty nursing.
