In addition to providing research information and resources, the Aging Institute brings together clinical programs at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh to work on identified unmet needs for older adults.  Three workgroups have been developed to work on these important issues:

  • Improving access to palliative care in long term care facilities
  • Healthy Aging
  • Decreasing unplanned hospital admissions from skilled nursing facilities

For the 700,000 western Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, quality of life involves far more than medical care – it also includes social, spiritual, financial, legal, and ethical concerns. The Aging Institute connects information on a wide range of these issues, with the goal of helping older adults get the services they need. Information about the Institute’s comprehensive services is available on the older adults site.
