Aging Institute Research Support
University of Pittsburgh Research
Aging Institute Pilot Seed Grant Program
Annual Research Day

By integrating clinical services, educational opportunities, and research initiatives, the Aging Institute fosters investigative collaboration, facilitates translation of research findings into improved care, and benefits the health of older people. Investigators at the Institute, the University of Pittsburgh, and UPMC are conducting aging-related research in:

  • basic science
  • disease-related and geriatric medicine
  • pharmacology
  • epidemiology
  • psychiatry and behavioral health
  • social sciences
  • health care delivery and health sciences
  • education and training
  • caregiving

Future initiatives have the potential to generate even more ideas, help with subject recruitment, ground proposed research projects, and identify key points for educators to disseminate. The Institute is working to identify new links among researchers and opportunities for collaboration, such as:

  • prevention
  • pathophysiology
  • risk stratification
  • clinical management strategies (algorithms, protocols, decision support systems)
  • clinical trials
  • humanities
  • economics
  • law
  • quality improvement
  • cost-effectiveness
